Who the heck is
Dreamz, you ask?
Well, he is the
first little chick we hatched in our make shift incubator. Let me
explain how we got Dreamz. We had Wilma (turkey hen) sitting on some
chicken eggs. She was broody so we figured, what the heck, let's throw
some chicken eggs under her and see what happens. She managed to
crushed 5 out of 6 eggs. We saved the 1 egg and put it in what was a
seedling starter kit. I, Carol, spent several hours researching the internet
to find out what we could do.
This is where
the pictures start... with a fertile egg in a seed starter kit. One
must keep it warm and moist and turn it several times a day is what I
learned from my studies. It took about 3 days before the first pip.
The egg actually moved and you could hear peeping. It took several
more hours for him to break free. In the end we had one very healthy
chick, fresh knowledge and a great story.
